Zija Pleteršek took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 6th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Nichifor Nicolae. Emerald's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 9th minute Ludvik Anclin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nichifor Nicolae saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Milky Way's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Ben Koeling in the 11th minute. The corner ended in Ernes Flakus almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Emerald's Nichifor Nicolae did a great save. In the 14th minute the ball was on its way in behind Milky Way's goalkeeper Klemen Mikuž, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When Milky Way's Ernes Flakus in the 18th minute got a chance for a shot 18th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Emerald's goalie prevented a goal. Nichifor Nicolae made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agnaldo Ramalho in the 27th minute of play. In the 28th minute Ludvik Anclin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nichifor Nicolae saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Milky Way were awarded a corner in the 29th minute after Emerald's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ben Koeling took the corner. When Zladko Terdič came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Milky Way fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Zladko Terdič couldn't finish the play. If Victor Piţurcă had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Klemen Mikuž made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Victor Piţurcă in the 35th minute of play. Nichifor Nicolae made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agnaldo Ramalho in the 38th minute of play. Renzo Kuder got a throw-in 45 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Zija Pleteršek.

Emerald made a substitution. Ioan Logofătu replaced Julio Iglesias. Nichifor Nicolae made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ernes Flakus in the 60th minute. In the 61st minute, Agnaldo Ramalho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nichifor Nicolae was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. With a little luck, Emerald's Nichifor Nicolae got control of the ball when Ernes Flakus tried to sneak it across the goal line. Victor Piţurcă fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Klemen Mikuž having to interfere. Milky Way made a substitution. Victor Piţurcă blasted a shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Klemen Mikuž having to make a save. Klemen Mikuž showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Victor Piţurcă in the 75th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Victor Piţurcă in the 76th minute of play forced Milky Way's goalkeeper Klemen Mikuž to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nichifor Nicolae made a fantastic save in the 78th minute, when Ernes Flakus sent off a good shot on target. Emerald's Nichifor Nicolae played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agnaldo Ramalho in the 83rd minute of play. Victor Piţurcă might have been able to make a better finish in the 85th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Klemen Mikuž. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal.
