Ramiro Enrique started the match with the kick off. Ediberto Righi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Romulo Lalla in the 3rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ramiro Enrique in the 7th minute of play forced Santa Fe's goalkeeper Shao Jing Yuan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 8th minute lןןl La Coconeta were awarded a corner. Jorge Jiménez went to the cornerflag to take it. 9 minutes into the game, Romulo Lalla recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Ediberto Righi. Romulo Lalla showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Shao Jing Yuan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ramiro Enrique in the 13th minute of play. Mauro Camoranesi might have been able to make a better finish in the 16th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Shao Jing Yuan. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mauro Camoranesi ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 25th minute Romulo Lalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ediberto Righi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ramiro Enrique in the 31st minute of play forced Santa Fe's goalkeeper Shao Jing Yuan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 32nd minute Ramiro Enrique shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Shao Jing Yuan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match had gone on for 40 minutes, Roque Roso took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Ediberto Righi to make any attempt to save it. Mauro Camoranesi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Shao Jing Yuan having to interfere. Ramiro Enrique fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Shao Jing Yuan having to interfere. If Mauro Camoranesi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

Ramiro Enrique might have been able to make a better finish in the 52nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Shao Jing Yuan. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ramiro Enrique ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 53rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Santa Fe's goalkeeper Shao Jing Yuan, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A collision led to Santa Fe getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Romulo Lalla hit a great ball. Shao Jing Yuan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ramiro Enrique in the 55th minute of play. Santa Fe's Shao Jing Yuan proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 61st minute of the match, managed to save Santa Fe from getting a goal against them. 63 minutes into the match, Santa Fe's goalkeeper Shao Jing Yuan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ramiro Enrique. Ramiro Enrique recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ramiro Enrique might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Shao Jing Yuan. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ramiro Enrique ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 73rd minute, Mauro Camoranesi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 78 minutes into the game, Roque Roso cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Ediberto Righi was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. lןןl La Coconeta's Josemir Lujambio was substituted for Ramiro Enrique. lןןl La Coconeta's Daniel Delfino was substituted for Robustiano Peyo. After a rather tough play, lןןl La Coconeta's Luciano Lollo got a free kick in the 84th minute. Shao Jing Yuan made an important save on a dangerous shot by Josemir Lujambio in the 86th minute. Ediberto Righi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Juan Fernando Pratto in the 89th minute of the match. After having played for 92 minutes, Josemir Lujambio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. lןןl La Coconeta's supporters crossed their fingers, but Josemir Lujambio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Josemir Lujambio's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Shao Jing Yuan read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 94th minute of play. For all the effort they put into the match, the lןןl La Coconeta players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Santa Fe.
