In the 21stth minute of the game James Batistuta who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SAO JOANENSE FC's Amadeu Lamego was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. A collision led to SAO JOANENSE FC getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Horácio Alcântara hit a great ball. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell James Batistuta to make the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alessandro Del Piero in the 62nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Amadeu Lamego saved SAO JOANENSE FC from getting behind. Glenn Fyfe made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Alessandro Meirelles sent off a good shot on target. Amadeu Lamego showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from James Batistuta, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. SAO JOANENSE FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gică Busuioc was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 7-0. 93 minutes into the game, Gică Busuioc cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 8-0. Amadeu Lamego was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The A4p FC Gad fans cheered their team off the field, for while SAO JOANENSE FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
