After having played for 6 minutes, Cenap İğdemir managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. JFSP's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cenap İğdemir was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Moisés Novaes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miguel Van Mechelen in the 10th minute of play. The nice shot from Baykal Yanal in the 12thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Andries Van Mechelen had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. Cenap İğdemir's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 13thth minute, Andries Van Mechelen skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. YR Mechelen's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cenap İğdemir was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Luiz Eduardo Lara managed to get in a good position for a shot. JFSP's supporters rose to their feet, but Luiz Eduardo Lara was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Andries Van Mechelen breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cenap İğdemir stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of JFSP booed when YR Mechelen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paul-Louis Van Mechelen didn't get a good kick on the ball. Miguel Van Mechelen took the ball and in the 58 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Moisés Novaes. Moisés Novaes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Moisés Novaes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Miguel Van Mechelen, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Miguel Van Mechelen scored 1-2 in the 68th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Moisés Novaes, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Andries Van Mechelen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rubinho Zanette, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Baykal Yanal in the 80th minute of play forced YR Mechelen's goalkeeper Andries Van Mechelen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. YR Mechelen had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
