Olle Ekström started the match with the kick off. A collision led to White Hart Lane getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Dick Wennerberg hit a great ball. In the 5th match minute, White Hart Lane was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Olov Alefors to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Serafim Motta during the 6th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a defensive mix-up in Mexilhão F. C.'s zone, Torgny Bock stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marcelinho Matorin came out of the goal and Torgny Bock tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Billy Bolin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Almir Loureiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Fritz Arvidsson during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 14th minute of the game. One of White Hart Lane:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Mexilhão F. C.:s goal. The goalkeeper, Billy Bolin, was totally fooled by Mexilhão F. C.'s Reinaldo Penha, who 15 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. Serafim Motta got his second yellow card in the match during the 18th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Serafim Motta hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. In the 19th minute, Fritz Arvidsson sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Mexilhão F. C.'s Marcelinho Matorin didn't even have to move. If Reine Kalfhage had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 24th minute, Reine Kalfhage left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The White Hart Lane fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Mexilhão F. C.'s Marcelinho Matorin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Olle Ekström in the 27th minute of play. Billy Bolin made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Reinaldo Penha sent off a good shot on target. 31 minutes into the game, White Hart Lane's Olle Ekström nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marcelinho Matorin made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-2. In the 34th minute, Dick Wennerberg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Mexilhão F. C.'s Nelsinho Dantas got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Marcelinho Matorin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dick Wennerberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Reinaldo Penha got free with Billy Bolin in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After the first half White Hart Lane were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Reinaldo Penha stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Mexilhão F. C.'s Almir Loureiro got a free kick in the 53rd minute. 55 minutes into the game, Dick Wennerberg lined in a short shot 1-3 behind a frustrated Marcelinho Matorin. Through an outstanding action, after 64 minutes, Marcelinho Matorin successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 65th minute, Nelsinho Dantas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Mexilhão F. C. getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Nelsinho Dantas hit a great ball. A hard shot by Torgny Bock from long distance, 67 minutes into the match, got Marcelinho Matorin's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. A collision led to Mexilhão F. C. getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Ediberto Donatello hit a great ball. After having played for 71 minutes, Fritz Arvidsson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. White Hart Lane's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fritz Arvidsson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 75 minutes into the match, Mexilhão F. C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Olle Ekström came free, but Marcelinho Matorin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Almir Loureiro kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. If Reinaldo Penha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Reinaldo Penha charged in rather forcefully in the 84th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Reinaldo Penha the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Mexilhão F. C.'s Reinaldo Penha got a free kick in the 84th minute. Reinaldo Penha struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Billy Bolin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexilhão F. C.. The crowd rose to their feet as Olle Ekström kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Marcelinho Matorin. That made the score 1-4 in the 92 minute of play. White Hart Lane's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
