After 11 minutes Avantgarde's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Tony Froggatt who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on FC Shakhtar Donetsk's corner Tony Froggatt fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Karl-Oskar Göransson quite easily take care of the ball. FC Shakhtar Donetsk's Harvey Smith played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Borut Špiček in the 13th minute of play. Georg Fogel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Harvey Smith having to interfere. Tony Froggatt hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Borut Špiček in the 29th minute of play forced FC Shakhtar Donetsk's goalkeeper Harvey Smith to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Georg Fogel got free with Harvey Smith in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 37 minutes into the match, Georg Fogel dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Harvey Smith, 1-0. In the 40th minute, Isaac Crocker hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, FC Shakhtar Donetsk's Harvey Smith got control of the ball when Georg Fogel tried to sneak it across the goal line. Lennart Westerstrand kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. Karl-Oskar Göransson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ivor Sadler in the 64th minute of play. The supporters of Avantgarde booed when FC Shakhtar Donetsk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Louis Bow didn't get a good kick on the ball. FC Shakhtar Donetsk's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Sören Blanck was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. After a rather tough play, FC Shakhtar Donetsk's Ivor Sadler got a free kick in the 79th minute. Harvey Smith made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Georg Fogel in the 83rd minute of play. In the 84th minute Borut Špiček shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Harvey Smith saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Borut Špiček took the ball and in the 84 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Harvey Smith. Harvey Smith dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-0. Borut Špiček sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Avantgarde had played much better football throughout.
