After having played for 9 minutes, Ivo Fantini managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palestra do Interior's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ivo Fantini was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 12th minute, Tiaguinho Lucas ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 21stth minute of the game Dinei Brito who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Futbol Club RRFV's Sílvio Luiz Moraes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 21 played minutes Futbol Club RRFV got a freekick which was hit by Noel Pombal. When Dinei Brito came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Palestra do Interior fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dinei Brito couldn't finish the play. Sílvio Luiz Moraes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ivo Fantini in the 30th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dinei Brito got free with Sílvio Luiz Moraes in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Dida da Cunha fell near the penalty area in the 37th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Futbol Club RRFV's protests and gave Dida da Cunha a yellow card for diving instead. In the 37th match minute, Futbol Club RRFV was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dida da Cunha to maneuver through the defense. The Futbol Club RRFV fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Sílvio Luiz Moraes should have stopped the shot. Hamílton Simão, 91 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. 93 minutes into the match, Futbol Club RRFV's goal looked a bit too open when Dinei Brito came free, but Sílvio Luiz Moraes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Palestra do Interior's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
