The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience thought a goal was coming when Luiz Gustavo Sanches got free with Pedrão Coutinho in the 7th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 9th minute, José Carlos Teixeira ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Júlio Soares was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After 11 played minutes Xanda FC got a freekick which was hit by Jorginho Alves. Pedrão Coutinho was out of position in the 12 minute of play, and Luiz Gustavo Sanches capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Luiz Gustavo Sanches really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Giuseppe Loureiro in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Júlio Soares saved Breguete FC from getting behind. Pedrão Coutinho made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Erivaldo Rezende sent off a good shot on target. Pedrão Coutinho was a little too slow when José Augusto Santos got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 26th minute. The score was now 2-1. 30 minutes into the match, Luiz Gustavo Sanches notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Xanda FC's Pedrão Coutinho. Pedrão Coutinho was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Xanda FC's Pedrão Coutinho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Augusto Santos in the 36th minute of play. Pedrão Coutinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Augusto Santos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 44th minute, Armandinho Nascimento hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Luiz Gustavo Sanches stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Pedrão Coutinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adriano Leite, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Luiz Gustavo Sanches took the ball and in the 56 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Pedrão Coutinho. Pedrão Coutinho dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-1. Jorginho Alves struck a weak shot in the 64th minute. Júlio Soares didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Xanda FC. 66 minutes into the match, José Augusto Santos had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Pedrão Coutinho. Xanda FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that José Augusto Santos was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-1. Pedrão Coutinho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luiz Gustavo Sanches in the 71st minute of the match. In the 75th minute, Adriano Leite ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Pedrão Coutinho was frozen by the shot and now it was 7-1. After 77 played minutes Breguete FC got a freekick which was hit by Adriano Leite. Pedrão Coutinho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adriano Leite in the 79th minute of the match. After having played for 86 minutes, José Carlos Teixeira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Xanda FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but José Carlos Teixeira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Adriano Leite's late challenge caught a Xanda FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Adriano Leite helped the player get up and apologised. Adriano Leite kicked well hit freekick during the 91st minute of the match. After 95 minutes, Norberto Massa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Breguete FC and the Xanda FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Xanda FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
