Cecilio Aznar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ingvar Bollström, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Cecilio Aznar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ingvar Bollström in the 41st minute of the match. After the first half Oldham Athletic were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ingvar Bollström made a kick off. A collision led to Oldham Athletic getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Leif Vedholm hit a great ball. In the 55th minute of the match Emiliano Ubendu sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sonny Bergdal skillfully saved the ball. Romulo Aureo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sonny Bergdal having to interfere. Oldham Athletic's Per-Erik Rydberg was substituted for Agne Stor. After a rather tough play, Oldham Athletic's Ingvar Bollström got a free kick in the 59th minute. The supporters of Forros Fantásticos AC booed when Oldham Athletic was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. The corner led Oldham Athletic's Jan Gulliksson to fire away a dangerous shot which Cecilio Aznar despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Oscar Bäcklin's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Cecilio Aznar firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 93rd minute, Leif Vedholm hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Oldham Athletic's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
