A collision led to New York Red Bulls getting a freekick after 2 minutes play. Anton Tăutu hit a great ball. After 4 played minutes Team Rocco got a freekick which was hit by Leif Billberg. After a defensive mix-up in Team Rocco's zone, Basarab Panduru stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Christer Kullander came out of the goal and Basarab Panduru tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 6th match minute, New York Red Bulls was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dong Hong Jian to maneuver through the defense. In the 7th minute of the match Henry Bållström shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Eduardo Pereyra showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Basarab Panduru could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 8th minute of the match, but Christer Kullander made a huge save. Vilhelm Moberg hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. New York Red Bulls's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Basarab Panduru in the 19th minute. The corner ended in Salih Şahsuvaroğlu almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Team Rocco's Christer Kullander did a great save. Eduardo Pereyra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fredrik Bjurström, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 22 minutes, Maxim Tadici managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. New York Red Bulls's supporters crossed their fingers, but Maxim Tadici was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Anton Tăutu charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Anton Tăutu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 23rd match minute, New York Red Bulls was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anton Tăutu to maneuver through the defense. After 26 minutes, Frank Rijkaard mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the New York Red Bulls and the Team Rocco players grew even worse after the yellow card. Eduardo Pereyra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fredrik Bjurström, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 32nd minute Jonas Kalfhage shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eduardo Pereyra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Maxim Tadici who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 33rdth minute tested the skills of Christer Kullander when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 35th minute, Doru Coman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 36 played minutes, Team Rocco's Henry Bållström shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Eduardo Pereyra came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Team Rocco reached it. New York Red Bulls's Eduardo Pereyra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonas Kalfhage in the 37th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonas Kalfhage in the 39th minute of play forced New York Red Bulls's goalkeeper Eduardo Pereyra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Maxim Tadici kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. Eduardo Pereyra showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jonas Kalfhage in the 43rd minute of the match. Maxim Tadici received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Christer Kullander tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lennart Abrahamsson struck a weak shot in the 46th minute. Eduardo Pereyra didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Team Rocco. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
Basarab Panduru fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Christer Kullander having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Team Rocco's Thomas Runeberg got a free kick in the 55th minute. Eduardo Pereyra made a fantastic save in the 59th minute, when Jonas Kalfhage sent off a good shot on target. Through an outstanding action, after 61 minutes, Eduardo Pereyra successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Eduardo Pereyra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Henry Bållström, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Maxim Tadici sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dario Cinalli during the 65th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 67th play minute Jonas Kalfhage came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Eduardo Pereyra. 0-1. 70 minutes into the match, New York Red Bulls's goal looked a bit too open when Lennart Abrahamsson came free, but Eduardo Pereyra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Christer Kullander showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maxim Tadici, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. A collision led to New York Red Bulls getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Piers Amos hit a great ball. Team Rocco's Henry Bållström got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Maxim Tadici in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Christer Kullander prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 79 minutes into the match, New York Red Bulls's goalkeeper Eduardo Pereyra had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fredrik Bjurström. The supporters of Team Rocco booed when New York Red Bulls was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Basarab Panduru didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jonas Kalfhage got free with Eduardo Pereyra in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Eduardo Pereyra made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jonas Kalfhage in the 88th minute. Team Rocco were awarded a corner in the 89th minute after New York Red Bulls's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Henry Bållström took the corner. In the 97th match minute, Team Rocco was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Thomas Runeberg to maneuver through the defense. When the final whistle sounded Team Rocco left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than New York Red Bulls.
