The corner led AL TAQWA VILLAGE FC's Freddy Sazon to fire away a dangerous shot which Óscar Cordoba despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Óscar Cordoba didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Don Cabezon went, in the 15th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. In the 25th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Óscar Cordoba, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Sporting de Gijón's Óscar Cordoba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Don Cabezon in the 29th minute of play. Thanks to some nice moves Matias Bilintx could shoot a difficult shot in the 31st minute, which Dacian Nițescu however easily saved by the left post. In the 35th match minute, AL TAQWA VILLAGE FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gorri Sañudo to maneuver through the defense. Saturnino Curcio took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 36th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Dacian Nițescu. AL TAQWA VILLAGE FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Ardy Pakubuwono received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Óscar Cordoba tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. AL TAQWA VILLAGE FC's Dacian Nițescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alejandro Rufo in the 40th minute of play. AL TAQWA VILLAGE FC's Mauro Dos Santos managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Esteban Ekaitz in the 41 minute of the game. In the 44th minute Diego Maradona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dacian Nițescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 46th match minute, AL TAQWA VILLAGE FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Andre Darmuis to maneuver through the defense. Ardy Pakubuwono hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match.

The wind increased when Matias Bilintx made the kick off in the second half. Saturnino Curcio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 53rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 54th minute Matias Bilintx shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dacian Nițescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Ardy Pakubuwono had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Óscar Cordoba showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Don Cabezon in the 59th minute of the match. Dacian Nițescu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Diego Maradona, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Óscar Cordoba was a little too slow when Don Cabezon got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 66th minute. The score was now 0-4. Sporting de Gijón made a substitution. Mario Zanabria replaced Saturnino Curcio. Dacian Nițescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rune Fanström in the 70th minute of play. Óscar Cordoba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Don Cabezon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 76th minute, Don Cabezon managed to get in a good position for a shot. AL TAQWA VILLAGE FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Don Cabezon was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Óscar Cordoba breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. AL TAQWA VILLAGE FC made a substitution. Dewa Warauw replaced Don Cabezon. Sporting de Gijón's Óscar Cordoba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dewa Warauw in the 91st minute of play.
