Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 柯川永 received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. 庞城奕 tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 15 minutes had been played when some careless play by Real Sociedad's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. 何雄海 was slow to take the kick. During this time Coventry City's players had a chance to rest. 谢庭星 made a great header on Coventry City's corner, it was just that Real Sociedad's 钱弘坚 managed to reach the ball for a save. 董海康 received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. 钱弘坚 tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Real Sociedad getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. 贺烽振 hit a great ball. 何雄海's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but 钱弘坚 read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. When 康翔卫 came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Coventry City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that 康翔卫 couldn't finish the play. 钱弘坚 showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from 康翔卫 in the 35th minute of the match. 35 minutes into the match, 康翔卫 had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of 钱弘坚. Real Sociedad's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that 康翔卫 was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. After a rather tough play, Coventry City's 冯旭镇 got a free kick in the 37th minute. If 董海康 had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 康翔卫 fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without 钱弘坚 having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and 柯川永 made a kick off. When 何雄海 came up free with the goalie in the 52nd minute, the Coventry City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that 何雄海 couldn't finish the play. In the 63rd minute, 谢庭星 left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Coventry City fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by 康翔卫 in the 70th minute of play forced Real Sociedad's goalkeeper 钱弘坚 to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Real Sociedad's 钱弘坚 played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 谢庭星 in the 72nd minute of play. 康翔卫 sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Real Sociedad's 崔广翀 quite brazenly broke a throw-in by 庞翀奕, made in the 77th minute of the game. 钱弘坚 took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from 冯昆冰, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Coventry City walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
