In the 47th minute, Stefan Stedefeldt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Palmeiras Atletico were furious when Tito De Pablo was red carded, 52 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. 51 minutes into the game, one of Palmeiras Atletico:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Celedonio Galego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dirk Baumgart in the 91st minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gerd Pflug got free with Celedonio Galego in the 96th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dirk Baumgart charged in rather forcefully in the 97th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dirk Baumgart the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Frank Football's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
