The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 5th match minute, A.A. In the 17th minute Armandinho Vergílio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sandrinho Sabóia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 19 minutes into the match, AF CERRADO's Kaká Goiano sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Telmo Trigo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Sandrinho Sabóia made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Cido Vinhas sent off a good shot on target. Cido Vinhas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 20th minute of the match, but Sandrinho Sabóia made a huge save. In the 23rd minute, Armandinho Vergílio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After some careless play in the A.A. Francana defense, Kaká Goiano kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Telmo Trigo. The A.A. Francana fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Telmo Trigo should have stopped the shot. Sandrinho Sabóia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Armandinho Vergílio, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. After 29 played minutes AF CERRADO got a freekick which was hit by Artur Sergipano. In the 33rd minute, Igor Oliveira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. AF CERRADO's Kaká Goiano got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sandrinho Sabóia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Adolfo Leite, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Sandrinho Sabóia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Armandinho Vergílio in the 42nd minute of the match. After a rather tough play, A.A. Francana's João Adolfo Leite got a free kick in the 44th minute. After the first half AF CERRADO were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kaká Goiano was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 51 minutes, Kaká Goiano managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. AF CERRADO's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kaká Goiano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A hard shot 53 in the game by Kaká Goiano from a close distance when the talented Telmo Trigo managed to make a qualified save. A.A. Francana's players were relieved. AF CERRADO were furious when Nestor Cordeiro was red carded, 57 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 56th minute of the game. One of AF CERRADO:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of A.A. Francana:s goal. In the 58th minute there was a penalty for A.A. Francana. Serginho Alagoano stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Sandrinho Sabóia. 1-1. In the 66th minute, AF CERRADO's Didi Gaúcho dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. 69 minutes into the match, Didi Gaúcho notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of A.A. Francana's Telmo Trigo. Telmo Trigo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Igor Oliveira hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. If João Adolfo Leite had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers João Adolfo Leite in the 76th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sandrinho Sabóia saved AF CERRADO from getting behind. In the 80th minute João Adolfo Leite shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sandrinho Sabóia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
