Antônio Carlos Cavalcante made a fantastic save in the 8th minute, when Luís Paulo Linhares sent off a good shot on target. The crowd rose to their feet as Luís Paulo Linhares kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Antônio Carlos Cavalcante. That made the score 2-0 in the 12 minute of play. 16 minutes into the game, São Paulo da Floresta's Bernard Sierocki nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. In the 44th minute, Ronaldo Pirani made a precise shot to the right of Teodoro Jacinto. São Paulo da Floresta's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-1.

52 minutes into the match, Luís Paulo Linhares had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Antônio Carlos Cavalcante. Palestra do Interior's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Luís Paulo Linhares was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-1. Cauan da Mata was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 68 minutes into the match. In the 67th minute, one of São Paulo da Floresta:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for São Paulo da Floresta. When the match had been going on for 69 minutes, Palestra do Interior's Nelsinho Marinho got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Teodoro Jacinto. Sandu Ţipirig scored 6-3 in the 79th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Antônio Carlos Cavalcante, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luís Paulo Linhares, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. São Paulo da Floresta's Teodoro Jacinto proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 87th minute of the match, managed to save São Paulo da Floresta from getting a goal against them. Teodoro Jacinto stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ronaldo Pirani's shot from short distance in the 88th minute. Palestra do Interior's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
