The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 11th minute, Nelson Xavier ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Caio da Costa was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Nelson Xavier sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 14th minute, Túlio Salgado hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Ronaldo Pirani came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Palestra do Interior fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ronaldo Pirani couldn't finish the play. Caio da Costa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nelson Xavier in the 17th minute of play. If Nelsinho Marinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Abutres 2003 FDP's Caio da Costa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luisão de Medeiros in the 21st minute of play. Christiano Palmeira kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. 33 minutes into the match, Abutres 2003 FDP's goal looked a bit too open when Ronaldo Pirani came free, but Caio da Costa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 35 played minutes Abutres 2003 FDP got a freekick which was hit by Jerônimo Mendonça. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Nelson Xavier managed to get in a good position for a shot. Palestra do Interior's supporters rose to their feet, but Nelson Xavier was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Caio da Costa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 38 minutes into the match, Abutres 2003 FDP's goal looked a bit too open when Nelsinho Marinho came free, but Caio da Costa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Caio da Costa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nelson Xavier in the 40th minute of play. The supporters of Palestra do Interior booed when Abutres 2003 FDP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Túlio Salgado didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 45th minute, Geovani do Nascimento hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 47th minute of the match Nelson Xavier shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Caio da Costa showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

52 minutes into the match, Palestra do Interior's goal looked a bit too open when Jerônimo Mendonça came free, but Antônio Carlos Cavalcante reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Abutres 2003 FDP getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Geovani do Nascimento hit a great ball. Caio da Costa made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Peder Neira sent off a good shot on target. In the 63rd minute, Nelson Xavier got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ronaldo Pirani might have been able to make a better finish in the 67th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Caio da Costa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ronaldo Pirani ran back to his position shaking his head. Caio da Costa made a fantastic save in the 75th minute, when Nelson Xavier sent off a good shot on target. Caio da Costa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nelsinho Marinho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Abutres 2003 FDP's Caio da Costa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luisão de Medeiros in the 85th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ronaldo Pirani got free with Caio da Costa in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 90th minute Palestra do Interior were awarded a corner. Nelson Xavier went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Abutres 2003 FDP's goalie and right to Ronaldo Pirani. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Abutres 2003 FDP's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. In the 94th minute of the match, Nelsinho Marinho tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Caio da Costa saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line.
