The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Telmo Trigo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jael Jardel in the 3rd minute of the match. In the 4th minute the ball was on its way in behind A.A. Francana's goalkeeper Telmo Trigo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 6th minute, Marcin Rekowski hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some careless play in the A.A. Francana defense, Jael Jardel kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Telmo Trigo. The A.A. Francana fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Telmo Trigo should have stopped the shot. João Adolfo Leite kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. Anderson de Sousa scored 0-2 in the 21st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Telmo Trigo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Jael Jardel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Telmo Trigo having to interfere. After 32 played minutes A.A. Francana got a freekick which was hit by Válbson Loyola. Ivo Brito received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Telmo Trigo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 36 minutes into the match, A.A. Francana's goal looked a bit too open when Jael Jardel came free, but Telmo Trigo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Válbson Soeiro charged in rather forcefully in the 41st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Válbson Soeiro the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 41st match minute, A.A. Francana was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Válbson Soeiro to maneuver through the defense. After 42 minutes of play, Grêmio 20 Julho's Anderson de Sousa made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Telmo Trigo was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Válbson Soeiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half Grêmio 20 Julho were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. João Adolfo Leite was the one to do the kick off. Gil Guerra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Adolfo Leite, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Telmo Trigo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jael Jardel in the 53rd minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in A.A. Francana's zone, César da Silveira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Telmo Trigo came out of the goal and César da Silveira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Grêmio 20 Julho's Jael Jardel in the 64th minute got a chance for a shot 64th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye A.A. Grêmio 20 Julho's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jael Jardel was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 75th minute, Jael Jardel reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Telmo Trigo. The goal made the score 0-6. Grêmio 20 Julho's Hernani Sergipano was substituted for César da Silveira. Jael Jardel who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 83rdth minute tested the skills of Telmo Trigo when he managed to save the team from getting behind. With a little luck, A.A. Francana's Telmo Trigo got control of the ball when Anderson de Sousa tried to sneak it across the goal line. Jael Jardel struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Telmo Trigo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Grêmio 20 Julho. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Grêmio 20 Julho eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
