Marcelo Travassos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edson de Souza having to interfere. 20 minutes into the game, A A Arizona's Eliseu Fonseca nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. José Pedro Donatello made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. José Pedro Donatello showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Valério Paranaense, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. E.C.MUKY JOINVILLE's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcelo Travassos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. José Pedro Donatello took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ronaldinho Cruz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 39th minute Ronaldinho Cruz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Pedro Donatello saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Arí Soares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Eliseu Fonseca stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Luiz Paulo de Queirós's late challenge caught a E.C.MUKY JOINVILLE's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Luiz Paulo de Queirós helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to A A Arizona getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Luiz Paulo de Queirós hit a great ball. In the 57thth minute of the game Luís Fabiano Branco who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but E.C.MUKY JOINVILLE's José Pedro Donatello was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When the match had gone on for 57 minutes, Luís Fabiano Branco put it in 0-5 from a short distance just to the right of José Pedro Donatello. José Pedro Donatello made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ronaldinho Cruz in the 60th minute of play.
