The Costa Rica fans' excitement grew in the 4th match minute when Costa Rica's Leo Calvo looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Michel Preudhomme took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jorge Luna, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Michel Preudhomme made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reiner Fallas in the 11th minute of play. Frank Mora made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nacer Khlifi in the 14th minute. 15 minutes into the match, Morocco's goal looked a bit too open when Leo Calvo came free, but Michel Preudhomme reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Michel Preudhomme showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Reiner Fallas in the 17th minute of the match. When Costa Rica's Leo Calvo in the 19th minute got a chance for a shot 19th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Morocco's goalie prevented a goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Jorge Luna managed to get in a good position for a shot. Costa Rica's supporters rose to their feet, but Jorge Luna was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Michel Preudhomme breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 37th minute, Morocco's Abdellatif Benkhirane dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. 40 minutes into the match, Morocco's goal looked a bit too open when Leo Calvo came free, but Michel Preudhomme reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Morocco defense, Jorge Luna kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Michel Preudhomme. The Morocco fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Michel Preudhomme should have stopped the shot. Morocco's attentive Agizul Boukemouch managed to snatch the ball when Brian Chaverri made a throw-in in the 44th minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Jorge Luna got a free kick in the 52nd minute. In the 54th minute Reiner Fallas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Michel Preudhomme saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Michel Preudhomme made a fantastic save in the 58th minute, when Aurelio Badilla sent off a good shot on target. 61 minutes into the match, Morocco's goalkeeper Michel Preudhomme had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Reiner Fallas. Michel Preudhomme came out of the goal in the 62nd minute to try and stop a shot by Costa Rica's Jorge Luna. But to his dismay, Jorge Luna quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. Costa Rica made a substitution. Alfonso Mejias replaced Aurelio Badilla. Frank Mora showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abdellatif Benkhirane, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. Dennis Vilchez replaced Antonio Picado. Ziyad Khlifi kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. The supporters of Costa Rica booed when Morocco was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Izemrasen Ben Barek didn't get a good kick on the ball. Costa Rica's Jorge Luna got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Michel Preudhomme made an important save on a dangerous shot by Reiner Fallas in the 83rd minute. Alfonso Mejias took the ball and in the 85 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Michel Preudhomme. Michel Preudhomme dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-4. Reiner Fallas scored 1-5 in the 87th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Michel Preudhomme, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Jorge Luna received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Michel Preudhomme came out and tried to block the shot, but Jorge Luna slotted it home off the left post making it 1-6 in the 93rd minute. The Morocco supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Costa Rica's performance. The match ended with a win for Costa Rica.
