Fernandão Penha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Björn Mokros, who was totally free with the ball in the 2nd minute. Simeon Plank showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jeferson Mandrak in the 4th minute of the match. The supporters of Rot-Weiss-Essen booed when Castanheiro SC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dino das Neves didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 17 played minutes Castanheiro SC got a freekick which was hit by Leonardo Trancoso. In the 21st match minute, Castanheiro SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Célio Vianna to maneuver through the defense. In the 25th minute Jeferson Mandrak shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Simeon Plank saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Simeon Plank was out of position in the 27 minute of play, and Kauan Rezende capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Kauan Rezende really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. In the 33rdth minute of the game Björn Mokros who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Castanheiro SC's Fernandão Penha was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 40th minute, Jeferson Mandrak got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Erkan Fostiropoulos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Erkan Fostiropoulos to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Björn Mokros in the 52nd minute of play forced Castanheiro SC's goalkeeper Fernandão Penha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Rot-Weiss-Essen getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. Helmut Malinowski hit a great ball. Célio Vianna took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 54th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Simeon Plank. Rot-Weiss-Essen's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Rot-Weiss-Essen's Simeon Plank played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kauan Rezende in the 56th minute of play. 59 minutes into the game, Sandu Alexa cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Fernandão Penha was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Helmut Malinowski's late challenge caught a Castanheiro SC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Helmut Malinowski helped the player get up and apologised. In the 66th minute, Helmut Malinowski hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Simeon Plank made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kauan Rezende in the 67th minute of play. In the 71st match minute, Castanheiro SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Célio Vianna to maneuver through the defense. Rot-Weiss-Essen's supporters stood up full of expectation in the 73rd minute of the game, when Hannes Kapell after an extraordinary solo performance found himself with a golden opportunity in front of Castanheiro SC's goal. Hannes Kapell was unfortunally a little to anxious and the ball went outside the goal. In the 78th minute, Kauan Rezende ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Simeon Plank was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Eliézer da Silveira hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dino das Neves during the 84th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Castanheiro SC's Dino das Neves got a free kick in the 84th minute.

For all the effort they put into the match, the Rot-Weiss-Essen players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Castanheiro SC.
