Patagonia's corner Rafael Nóbrega fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Modesto Oakley quite easily take care of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Horea Boian in the 39th minute of play forced Lilywhites's goalkeeper Modesto Oakley to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Lilywhites's zone, Dariusz Wos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Modesto Oakley came out of the goal and Dariusz Wos tried to chip the ball over his head. Patagonia were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The crowd rose to their feet as Aldo Di Carlo kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Modesto Oakley.
