After a defensive mix-up in Ágætis Byrjun's zone, Matthias Wauters stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Georg Hagberg came out of the goal and Matthias Wauters tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Georg Hagberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mathijs Rokeloos in the 15th minute of play. KFC Cromvelde's Jean-Louis Van Bever proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save KFC Cromvelde from getting a goal against them. 26 minutes into the match, Ágætis Byrjun's goal looked a bit too open when Dé 武松 came free, but Georg Hagberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ágætis Byrjun's Georg Hagberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mathijs Rokeloos in the 27th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Mathijs Rokeloos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Georg Hagberg was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. In the 37th minute, Karl-Heinz Kaltz ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Georg Hagberg was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

In the 90th minute of the match, Dé 武松 tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Georg Hagberg saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Mathijs Rokeloos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 91st minute of the match, but Georg Hagberg made a huge save. Jean-Louis Van Bever showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alejandro dos Santos, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. The KFC Cromvelde players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
