The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Unai Sócrates fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mike Zoetmulder having to interfere. Pieterjan Anteunis's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mike Zoetmulder read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. 28 minutes into the match, De Pelgrims's goal looked a bit too open when Unai Sócrates came free, but Mike Zoetmulder reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Yuri Portugal's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mike Zoetmulder was relentless in the 31st minute of the game. Mike Zoetmulder didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Yuri Portugal went, in the 32nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. With a little luck, Fauna Utd's Radamel Hendrickx got control of the ball when Mathias de Ruijter tried to sneak it across the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Perivaldo Eger in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Radamel Hendrickx prevented the ball from getting in the gole. De Pelgrims were awarded a corner in the 38th minute after Fauna Utd's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Fu Peng Feng took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Fu Peng Feng got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Radamel Hendrickx quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Huub Gerrits hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Yuri Portugal in the 44th minute of play forced De Pelgrims's goalkeeper Mike Zoetmulder to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Leopold Van den Paenhuysen hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. Radamel Hendrickx had great luck who in the 46thth minute grab hold of the ball when Huub Gerrits from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. De Pelgrims's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Fu Peng Feng in the 48th minute. The corner led De Pelgrims's Fu Peng Feng to fire away a dangerous shot which Radamel Hendrickx despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After the first half Fauna Utd were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 52nd minute, Yuri Portugal ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mike Zoetmulder was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. After a rather tough play, Fauna Utd's Dante Huts got a free kick in the 56th minute. Mike Zoetmulder made a fantastic save in the 58th minute, when Unai Sócrates sent off a good shot on target. Perivaldo Eger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 62 minutes into the match, De Pelgrims's goal looked a bit too open when Pieterjan Anteunis came free, but Mike Zoetmulder reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mike Zoetmulder showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pieterjan Anteunis in the 63rd minute of the match. Dante Huts sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 74 minutes into the match, De Pelgrims's goalkeeper Mike Zoetmulder had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Yuri Portugal. After a rather tough play, De Pelgrims's Twan Mol got a free kick in the 75th minute. De Pelgrims's Mike Zoetmulder played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yuri Portugal in the 79th minute of play. Fauna Utd's attentive Teodoro Esquipula managed to snatch the ball when Theo Tuyp made a throw-in in the 83rd minute of the game. If Yuri Portugal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mike Zoetmulder took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pieterjan Anteunis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Unai Sócrates who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 90thth minute tested the skills of Mike Zoetmulder when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Fauna Utd's attentive Teodoro Esquipula managed to snatch the ball when Theo Tuyp made a throw-in in the 94th minute of the game. The supporters of Fauna Utd booed when De Pelgrims was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Montrel Perpiñán didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match was over Fauna Utd could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than De Pelgrims throughout the match.
