The corner ended in Igor Milko almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Croatia's Emil Cvitanović did a great save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Igor Milko in the 30th minute of play forced Croatia's goalkeeper Emil Cvitanović to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 31st minute of the match Ukraine got a corner. Croatia's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Igor Milko ran over to the corner to take the kick. 35 minutes into the match, Igor Milko notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Croatia's Emil Cvitanović. In the 58th minute of the match, Igor Milko got a very nice opportunity to score, but Emil Cvitanović was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 59 minutes had been played when some careless play by Croatia's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Igor Milko was slow to take the kick. During this time Ukraine's players had a chance to rest. After some careless play in the Ukraine defense, Joško Poklepović kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vitaliy Vischak. The Ukraine fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vitaliy Vischak should have stopped the shot. Croatia's Nikola Haramina was substituted for Miran Tudor. When Croatia's Joško Poklepović in the 83rd minute got a chance for a shot 83rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ukraine's goalie prevented a goal. The Croatia supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Ukraine's performance. The match ended with a win for Ukraine.
