The supporters of Olivedos booed when ATHLETICO PRaiano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Betão Marquez didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Olivedos's Abelardo Maranhense got control of the ball when Deilmison van Basten tried to sneak it across the goal line. Cássio Ferraz could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but Rodriguinho Sousa made a huge save. Denílson Magalhães might have been able to make a better finish in the 59th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Abelardo Maranhense. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Denílson Magalhães ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 60th match minute, Olivedos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Magno Sampaio to maneuver through the defense. 61 minutes into the match, Deilmison van Basten had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Abelardo Maranhense. Olivedos's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Deilmison van Basten was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Rodriguinho Sousa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abel de Godoi, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Rodriguinho Sousa had in the 92ndth minute some difficulties stopping Cássio Ferraz's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 92nd minute, Cássio Ferraz made a precise shot to the right of Rodriguinho Sousa. ATHLETICO PRaiano's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-3. Gaétan Govou hit a great freekick 98 minutes into the match. Olivedos were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
