In the 43rd minute of the match New England Minas got a corner. Khachatryan's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sung McKinley stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After having played for 50 minutes, Edgardo Silva managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. New England Minas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edgardo Silva was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
