If Lamar Arthur had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 23rd minute Virgilio Kennedy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dario Wilhelm saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Virgilio Kennedy could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Dario Wilhelm made a huge save. 31 minutes into the match, Chard United's goal looked a bit too open when Waldo Renteria came free, but Santos Santio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 33rd minute of the match, Virgilio Kennedy tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Dario Wilhelm saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Claude Joyner in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Santos Santio saved Chard United from getting behind. Dario Wilhelm showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Virgilio Kennedy in the 38th minute of the match. Santos Santio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claude Joyner in the 40th minute of play. Santos Santio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Amir Lee's shot from short distance in the 41st minute. Chad Busby charged in rather forcefully in the 48th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Chad Busby the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Chard United's Martin Craven was substituted for Lamar Arthur. In the 47th minute, one of Cascade Park West:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Cascade Park West. Dario Wilhelm had in the 50thth minute some difficulties stopping Norbert Swift's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
