When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Joaquim Vilar made a kick off. Wilbur Hyde showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lanny Gilmore in the 73rd minute of the match. Aaron Smallwood took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Justin Raines, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Santos FC were furious when Vern Pierre was red carded, 79 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In a very dangerous position, a player in Santos FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 79th minute. Penalty! Aaron Smallwood went to the wrong direction when Joaquim Vilar was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal.
