If Lanny Gilmore had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Jannes Ruttens showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lanny Gilmore in the 3rd minute of the match. Tyron Velasquez hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. In the 5th minute Beto Montenegro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aaron Smallwood saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lanny Gilmore recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. C. A. Pipon Pipon's Jannes Ruttens played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lanny Gilmore in the 13th minute of play. In the 17th minute, Beto Montenegro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Lanny Gilmore might have been able to make a better finish in the 19th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jannes Ruttens. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lanny Gilmore ran back to his position shaking his head. After a rather tough play, Santos FC's Mike Richardson got a free kick in the 20th minute. Terence Nicholas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Jannes Ruttens made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Tyron Velasquez sent off a good shot on target. Tyron Velasquez's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jannes Ruttens read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 33rd minute of play. Tyron Velasquez scored 2-0 in the 33rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jannes Ruttens, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Santos FC's Aaron Smallwood played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jose José in the 36th minute of play. 38 minutes had been played when some careless play by Santos FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Al Whatley was slow to take the kick. During this time C. A. Pipon Pipon's players had a chance to rest. The corner led C. A. Pipon Pipon's Al Whatley to fire away a dangerous shot which Aaron Smallwood despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 41 minutes into the match, Santos FC's goal looked a bit too open when Nicky Bryson came free, but Aaron Smallwood reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lanny Gilmore struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Jannes Ruttens didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Santos FC. Al Whatley kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The wind increased when Nicky Bryson made the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Santos FC's Aaron Smallwood got control of the ball when Nicky Bryson tried to sneak it across the goal line. Aaron Smallwood took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Beto Montenegro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Tyron Velasquez in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jannes Ruttens saved C. A. Pipon Pipon from getting behind. In the 63rd minute of the game Al Whatley made a throw-in which Jose José played forward. Aaron Smallwood made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Justus Lintorf in the 66th minute of play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 66th minute of the game. One of Santos FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of C. A. Pipon Pipon:s goal. Santos FC:s Aaron Smallwood showed great skill when he stopped Nicky Bryson:s penalty. Beto Montenegro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Aaron Smallwood made a fantastic save in the 76th minute, when Justus Lintorf sent off a good shot on target. C. A. Pipon Pipon's Benito Morin was substituted for Al Whatley. C. A. Pipon Pipon's Francesco Figueroa was substituted for Jose José. C. A. Pipon Pipon's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Cristóvão Ortiz in the 79th minute. The supporters of C. A. Pipon Pipon booed when Santos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mike Richardson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Santos FC's Aaron Smallwood proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 85th minute of the match, managed to save Santos FC from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Justus Lintorf in the 88th minute of play forced Santos FC's goalkeeper Aaron Smallwood to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 90 minutes, Beto Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. C. A. Pipon Pipon's supporters crossed their fingers, but Beto Montenegro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Santos FC's attentive Terence Nicholas managed to snatch the ball when Benito Morin made a throw-in in the 91st minute of the game. A throw-in in the 93rd minute of the game was made by Bülent Korkmaz with Francesco Figueroa as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Jannes Ruttens took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tyron Velasquez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Beto Montenegro came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the C. A. Pipon Pipon fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Beto Montenegro couldn't finish the play. C. A. Pipon Pipon's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
