The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Clóvis Reis made an important save on a dangerous shot by Feliberto Tarin in the 4th minute. 7 minutes into the match, Diamond Crown FC's goal looked a bit too open when Douglas Ferreira came free, but Bernardo Aguayo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Clóvis Reis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Costin Verzea in the 8th minute of play. Leon Sport Club's defense didn't have a chance, in the 10th minute, when Costin Verzea scored to the left of an out of position Clóvis Reis, making the score, 1-0. In the 15th minute, Gernando Cardozo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 17 played minutes Leon Sport Club got a freekick which was hit by Jon Loarte. Costin Verzea sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Bernardo Aguayo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jon Loarte in the 21st minute of play. After 24 played minutes Diamond Crown FC got a freekick which was hit by David Sheringham. In the 25th minute, Jon Loarte ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bernardo Aguayo was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Valdo Prado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bernardo Aguayo having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Jerônimo Correia kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Clóvis Reis. That made the score 2-1 in the 36 minute of play. In the 39th minute Jon Loarte shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bernardo Aguayo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Diamond Crown FC's Bernardo Aguayo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valdo Prado in the 42nd minute of play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jon Loarte stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Clóvis Reis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Artem Ustinov in the 50th minute of play. Diamond Crown FC's Christian do Nascimento managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Rafinha Silva in the 53 minute of the game. Bernardo Aguayo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Valdo Prado in the 58th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers João Augusto Costa in the 68th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bernardo Aguayo saved Diamond Crown FC from getting behind. Douglas Ferreira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Bernardo Aguayo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Leon Sport Club booed when Diamond Crown FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Artem Ustinov didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bernardo Aguayo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Augusto Costa in the 74th minute of the match. In the 75th minute, Costin Verzea ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Clóvis Reis was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Costin Verzea in the 80th minute of play forced Leon Sport Club's goalkeeper Clóvis Reis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With an all-out effort, Leon Sport Club's Bernardo Aguayo threw himself towards the right post 84 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from João Augusto Costa, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Oswaldo Talavera hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Costin Verzea in the 88th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Clóvis Reis saved Leon Sport Club from getting behind. With 90 minutes on the clock, Manuel Coelho commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. Clóvis Reis had in the 93rdth minute some difficulties stopping Artem Ustinov's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. A collision led to Diamond Crown FC getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Gernando Cardozo hit a great ball. A hard shot by Dráuzio Severo from long distance, 96 minutes into the match, got Bernardo Aguayo's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side.
