Fredrik Masculier who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 23rdth minute tested the skills of Egídio Salgado when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Alfredinho Cavalcante stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alberto Spencer's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. Fredrik Masculier fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Egídio Salgado having to interfere. Alberto Spencer scored 0-1 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alfredinho Cavalcante, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot.
