Montevideo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Paulo Laurentzi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Montevideo's Ronaldo Medeiros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulo Laurentzi in the 21st minute of play. Evelio Antoniano was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Luisito Antequera showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-2 in the 33 minute of play. Wilson Fernandez hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. In the 40th match minute, Montevideo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wilson Fernandez to maneuver through the defense. Evelio Antoniano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fernandão Recife in the 45th minute of play. In the 47th match minute, Montevideo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luisito Antequera to maneuver through the defense. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

After 93 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Montevideo! The Criciúma Esporte Clube players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
