Sven-Edvin Dalgren might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Maximiliano Iigo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sven-Edvin Dalgren ran back to his position shaking his head. After some careless play in the Racing Club defense, Gabriel-Omar Batista kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Francisco Raymond. The Racing Club fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Francisco Raymond should have stopped the shot. In the 19th minute, Falcão Botelho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Maximiliano Iigo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Anísio Cosme went, in the 19th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. After a defensive mix-up in Racing Club's zone, Gabriel-Omar Batista stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Francisco Raymond came out of the goal and Gabriel-Omar Batista tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
