The referee ignored JEC - FC's protests and gave Julio Baptista a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to JEC - FC getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Julio Baptista hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Isidoro Felipillo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Paraná Clube Brasil's supporters rose to their feet, but Isidoro Felipillo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
