The GRÊMIO fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nestor Sampaio should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, GRÊMIO's Acácio Donato got a free kick in the 23rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Evandro Figueiras in the 26th minute of play forced GRÊMIO's goalkeeper Nestor Sampaio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 40th minute, Víktor do Valle hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Albérico Vilaverde kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. GRÊMIO's Guto Cabral got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Leal Antas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The supporters of GRÊMIO booed when SC Braga was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leal Antas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nestor Sampaio was a little too slow when Evandro Figueiras got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 95th minute. The score was now 2-4. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. SC Braga had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
