The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hélio Furtado during the 13th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Emirhan Sultani had several of the SE Palestra Itália's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 47 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 2-0 score and a disappointed Paulão Penha as he didn't even see the shot coming. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

After a defensive mix-up in SE Palestra Itália's zone, Bata Palma stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paulão Penha came out of the goal and Bata Palma tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Emirhan Sultani received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Paulão Penha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
