Ian Webb charged in rather forcefully in the 10th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. España was a little too slow when Franky Van Der Elst got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 17th minute. The score was now 3-0. 21 minutes in the game, José Luis Cuciuffo dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. 23 minutes into the game, Memphis Grizzlies's José Luis Cuciuffo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. J.P. España made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. In the 25th match minute, Municipales FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aureliano Joachim to maneuver through the defense. J.P. España took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Luis Cuciuffo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 28 played minutes Memphis Grizzlies got a freekick which was hit by Franky Van Der Elst. 30 minutes into the match, Memphis Grizzlies's José Luis Cuciuffo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that J.P. España narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 34th minute, José Luis Cuciuffo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eugenio Costante hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. Memphis Grizzlies's José Luis Cuciuffo got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some careless play in the Municipales FC defense, José Luis Cuciuffo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of J.P. España. The Municipales FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that J.P. España should have stopped the shot.

53 minutes into the match, Municipales FC's goal looked a bit too open when Franky Van Der Elst came free, but J.P. España reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. José Luis Cuciuffo took the ball and in the 59 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised J.P. España. J.P. España dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 6-0. In the 66th minute, José Luis Cuciuffo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. J.P. España was frozen by the shot and now it was 7-0. Memphis Grizzlies's Brian Patterson was substituted for Harry Johnson. Memphis Grizzlies made a substitution. Peter Wiltshire replaced Franky Van Der Elst. Municipales FC's J.P. España played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ken Blackwater in the 70th minute of play. In the 74th minute, Peter Wiltshire made a precise shot to the right of J.P. España. Municipales FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 8-0. J.P. España came out of the goal in the 77th minute to try and stop a shot by Memphis Grizzlies's Franz Henry. But to his dismay, Franz Henry quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 9-0. The audience was convinced that Peter Wiltshire's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but J.P. España was relentless in the 80th minute of the game. Franz Henry's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but J.P. España read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Municipales FC's goalie and right to Ian Webb. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Municipales FC's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Eugenio Costante during the 88th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
