The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Denis Lawrence showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dave Fleming in the 4th minute of the match. After 7 played minutes Descamisados CF got a freekick which was hit by Anibal Gau. Memphis Grizzlies's Franky Van Der Elst managed to work through Descamisados CF's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Franky Van Der Elst dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. José Luis Cuciuffo scored 0-1 in the 11th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Denis Lawrence, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Gez Winship made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Blas Francho sent off a good shot on target. In the 17th match minute, Memphis Grizzlies was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Harry Johnson to maneuver through the defense. Gez Winship was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 18th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Hernán Diaz. A collision led to Descamisados CF getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Jorge Gustau hit a great ball. Memphis Grizzlies's José Luis Cuciuffo got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 27 minutes, Ken Blackwater mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Descamisados CF players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Descamisados CF booed when Memphis Grizzlies was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ken Blackwater didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 29th match minute, Memphis Grizzlies was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Garry Nancy to maneuver through the defense. Anibal Gau's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gez Winship read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 30th minute of play. In the 32nd minute, Juan Pablo Sorin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 38th minute, Franky Van Der Elst left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Memphis Grizzlies fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. After a rather tough play, Memphis Grizzlies's Harry Johnson got a free kick in the 40th minute. Natalio Raymond took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 41st minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Gez Winship. Memphis Grizzlies's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Gez Winship came out of the goal in the 44th minute to try and stop a shot by Descamisados CF's Jorge Gustau. But to his dismay, Jorge Gustau quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. Anibal Gau fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gez Winship having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The supporters of Descamisados CF booed when Memphis Grizzlies was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Harvey McLiam Wilson didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 63rd match minute, Memphis Grizzlies was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Harvey McLiam Wilson to maneuver through the defense. In the 66th minute, Blas Francho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Memphis Grizzlies made a substitution. Peter Wiltshire replaced Franky Van Der Elst. Gez Winship made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Blas Francho in the 74th minute of play. In the 75th minute, Gogo Ler ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gez Winship was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. After 80 minutes, Ricardo Bernard made it 4-2 with a short kick to the right side. Memphis Grizzlies's Gez Winship tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. 84 minutes into the game, Peter Wiltshire recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Denis Lawrence. Peter Wiltshire showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 4-3. Denis Lawrence showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dave Fleming in the 90th minute of the match. Natalio Raymond charged in rather forcefully in the 91st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Natalio Raymond the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 91st match minute, Descamisados CF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Natalio Raymond to maneuver through the defense. Gogo Ler sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Memphis Grizzlies's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
