The audience thought a goal was coming when Pavel Janis got free with Eduard Jindrák in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 29th minute Alexandr Kroščen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jarmil Bůžek saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The corner ended in Michal Heinz almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but U21 Czech Republic's Jarmil Bůžek did a great save. Jarmil Bůžek showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomáš Krpec, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.
