The supporters of Nacional booed when Wolverhampton was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Åke Söderqwist didn't get a good kick on the ball. 31 minutes into the match, Wolverhampton's Sotiris Koupepes sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Juaneizu Merida narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Grabiel Escorcia in the 41st minute of play forced Wolverhampton's goalkeeper Thomas Runeberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Juaneizu Merida showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edmund Almkvist, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. After the first half Nacional were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Edmund Almkvist was the one to do the kick off. Grabiel Escorcia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Wolverhampton's Thomas Runeberg proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to save Wolverhampton from getting a goal against them. After a rather tough play, Wolverhampton's J.P. J.J. got a free kick in the 55th minute. 58 minutes into the match, Nacional's goal looked a bit too open when Edmund Almkvist came free, but Juaneizu Merida reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nacional's attentive Camilo Candido managed to snatch the ball when J.P. J.J. made a throw-in in the 59th minute of the game. If Grabiel Escorcia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nacional's Walme Yurre was substituted for Mendiko Bueres. When Nacional's Grabiel Escorcia in the 66th minute got a chance for a shot 66th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Wolverhampton's goalie prevented a goal. After 70 played minutes Wolverhampton got a freekick which was hit by Boruc Domarecki. J.P. J.J. hit a great freekick 73 minutes into the match. 74 minutes into the match, Wolverhampton's goal looked a bit too open when Grabiel Escorcia came free, but Thomas Runeberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
