Boca Juniors's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Anestis Kotsopoulos was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. In the 12th minute, Miguel Arias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 13 minutes into the match, Boca Juniors's goalkeeper Primitivo Cordaro had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Anestis Kotsopoulos. Boca Juniors's Primitivo Cordaro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anestis Kotsopoulos in the 14th minute of play. Primitivo Cordaro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maximilian Henning in the 23rd minute of the match. Primitivo Cordaro came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by Rot-Weiss-Essen's Hugo Haupt. But to his dismay, Hugo Haupt quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. After some careless play in the Boca Juniors defense, Mesut Özil kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Primitivo Cordaro. The Boca Juniors fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Primitivo Cordaro should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ambrosio Sarmanton in the 33rd minute of play forced Rot-Weiss-Essen's goalkeeper August Hoffmanns to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match had gone on for 35 minutes, Kağan Duro put it in 4-1 from a short distance just to the right of August Hoffmanns. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Evelio Figueroa during the 37th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Anestis Kotsopoulos to strike the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Rot-Weiss-Essen's Ingmar Stempfle got a free kick in the 88th minute. Maximilian Henning scored 8-1 in the 90th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Primitivo Cordaro, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Rot-Weiss-Essen fully deserved thier win.
