But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nicolas Froila couldn't finish the play. Through an outstanding action, after 15 minutes, August Hoffmanns successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After 17 minutes, Isidoro Lugo made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Rot-Weiss-Essen's August Hoffmanns tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Celtic FC's Isidoro Lugo got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sebastián Junes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mesut Özil in the 24th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anestis Kotsopoulos in the 24th minute of play forced Celtic FC's goalkeeper Sebastián Junes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Hugo Haupt scored 1-1 in the 26th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sebastián Junes, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Isidoro Lugo to strike the kick off in the second half. August Hoffmanns showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nicolas Froila, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. After taking down the ball on Celtic FC's corner Ted Ambjörnsson fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and August Hoffmanns quite easily take care of the ball. Nicolas Froila sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Celtic FC's Sebastián Junes got control of the ball when Mesut Özil tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Rot-Weiss-Essen booed when Celtic FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dionisio Barea didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 96thth minute of the game Nicolas Froila who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rot-Weiss-Essen's August Hoffmanns was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the Rot-Weiss-Essen players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Celtic FC.
