In the 11th minute the ball was on its way in behind Rot-Weiss-Essen's goalkeeper August Hoffmanns, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Rot-Weiss-Essen's August Hoffmanns played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edmund Almkvist in the 12th minute of play. In the 15th minute Mesut Özil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thomas Runeberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edmund Almkvist received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. August Hoffmanns came out and tried to block the shot, but Edmund Almkvist slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 18th minute. August Hoffmanns showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Librado Pamperin in the 20th minute of the match. Thomas Runeberg stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hugo Haupt's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edmund Almkvist in the 23rd minute of play forced Rot-Weiss-Essen's goalkeeper August Hoffmanns to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 24 minutes, August Hoffmanns successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After having played for 28 minutes, Edmund Almkvist managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wolverhampton's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edmund Almkvist was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Maximilian Henning had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 31 minutes into the match, Wolverhampton's goal looked a bit too open when Maximilian Henning came free, but Thomas Runeberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 36th minute the ball was on its way in behind Rot-Weiss-Essen's goalkeeper August Hoffmanns, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Wolverhampton's Thomas Runeberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Anestis Kotsopoulos in the 39th minute of play. In the 42nd minute, Åke Söderqwist hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Wolverhampton's zone, Maximilian Henning stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thomas Runeberg came out of the goal and Maximilian Henning tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Sotiris Koupepes's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 46thth minute, August Hoffmanns skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Anestis Kotsopoulos made a kick off. In the 57th minute of the match, Hugo Haupt got a very nice opportunity to score, but Thomas Runeberg was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mesut Özil got free with Thomas Runeberg in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maximilian Henning in the 65th minute of play forced Wolverhampton's goalkeeper Thomas Runeberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. August Hoffmanns came out of the goal in the 71st minute to try and stop a shot by Wolverhampton's Sotiris Koupepes. But to his dismay, Sotiris Koupepes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. Thomas Runeberg made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mesut Özil in the 76th minute. Hugo Haupt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 81st minute of the match, but Thomas Runeberg made a huge save. In the 85thth minute of the game Edmund Almkvist who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rot-Weiss-Essen's August Hoffmanns was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Sotiris Koupepes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without August Hoffmanns having to interfere. August Hoffmanns took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sotiris Koupepes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 89 played minutes Rot-Weiss-Essen got a freekick which was hit by Anestis Kotsopoulos. In the 90th minute Sotiris Koupepes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but August Hoffmanns saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Sotiris Koupepes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sotiris Koupepes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. August Hoffmanns showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edmund Almkvist in the 97th minute of the match.
