Hickey Dunne made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Maximilian Henning in the 14th minute of play. 15 minutes into the game, Leif-Eric Albrecht was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rot-Weiss-Essen's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Prishtina FC the free kick. A collision led to Rot-Weiss-Essen getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Leif-Eric Albrecht hit a great ball. In the 18th minute, Rot-Weiss-Essen's Maximilian Henning dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Donato Conrao made a kick off. Donato Conrao in the 51stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of August Hoffmanns, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. With his leg August Hoffmanns managed to avoid a goal in the 51stth minute, when Prishtina FC's Donato Conrao fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Hugo Haupt's late challenge caught a Prishtina FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hugo Haupt helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Rot-Weiss-Essen's Hugo Haupt got a free kick in the 57th minute. August Hoffmanns showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Donato Conrao in the 65th minute of the match. 67 minutes into the match, Rot-Weiss-Essen's goal looked a bit too open when Donato Conrao came free, but August Hoffmanns reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
