When Hernan Lano came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Soroca F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hernan Lano couldn't finish the play. Dida Taffarel didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Adrián Espadas went, in the 13th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Dida Taffarel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Adrián Espadas, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. If Adrián Espadas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 39th minute Adrián Espadas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dida Taffarel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Adrián Espadas in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dida Taffarel saved Marquês de Herval from getting behind. Adrián Espadas scored 0-4 in the 46th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dida Taffarel, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alfredo Martins to strike the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Soroca F.C.'s Adrián Espadas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dida Taffarel narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of Soroca F.C. booed when Marquês de Herval was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Toby Major didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dida Taffarel was a little too slow when Răzvan Necula got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 82nd minute. The score was now 0-6. Răzvan Necula's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dida Taffarel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 85th minute of play. Răzvan Necula struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Dida Taffarel didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Soroca F.C.. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Răzvan Necula in the 90th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dida Taffarel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Răzvan Necula got in the 93rd a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Dida Taffarel handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. When the match clock showed 93 minutes, the score became 0-7 when Răzvan Necula sped through Marquês de Herval's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Dida Taffarel. Jon Grøneng kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. Soroca F.C.'s fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
