An unexpectedly hard shot by Zico Zellier in the 9th minute of play forced Lugano con el rojo's goalkeeper Carlos Kemen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 14th minute Florentino Mikelats shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nery Pumpido saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, GuateFortín's Stanyo Búnkov got a free kick in the 36th minute. Guido Rocendo got in the 37th a clear chance and fired away a hard shot against goal, but Nery Pumpido handled the situation perfectly and made a save by the crossbar. The Lugano con el rojo fans' excitement grew in the 37th match minute when Lugano con el rojo's Guido Rocendo looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-4 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The wind increased when Guido Rocendo made the kick off in the second half. In the 57th minute, GuateFortín's Zico Zellier dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-6. GuateFortín's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lugano con el rojo the free kick. A collision led to GuateFortín getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. The GuateFortín supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing GuateFortín would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
