Dida Taffarel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Saúl Menem in the 40th minute of the match. Aldo Zumiel hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. Carlos Saúl Menem fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dida Taffarel having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Carlos Saúl Menem to make the kick off. Dida Taffarel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Saúl Menem, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. After a rather tough play, ..Villa Rugby Club..'s Baldomiro Dodorol got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Marquês de Herval's Dida Taffarel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Olaf Cebula in the 81st minute of play.
