The René Higuita was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. In the 15th minute Aurelio Jacindo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but René Higuita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Aristides Avellaneda hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. A collision led to Esmeralda AFC getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Severiano Clementi hit a great ball. Aaron Fagildo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. The supporters of Esmeralda AFC booed when Kaplan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amador Bela didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nicasio Lorenz, 59 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. The Esmeralda AFC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Esmeralda AFC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
