In the 15th minute of the match, Tage Backlund got a very nice opportunity to score, but Marcelo Gröhe was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Marcelo Gröhe came out of the goal in the 18th minute to try and stop a shot by Xiboquinha FC's Tage Backlund. But to his dismay, Tage Backlund quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. In the 23rd minute Hudson Toscano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rony Zanette saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tage Backlund got free with Marcelo Gröhe in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Rony Zanette showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fernando Lucas, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. For all the effort they put into the match, the Independente FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Xiboquinha FC.
