But to his dismay, Orlando Peixoto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. Jukka Leppiniemi lost his temper 44 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. 43 minutes into the game, one of Colchester United:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Colchester United's Natalio Arnas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Camilo Artaldo in the 51st minute of play. Camilo Artaldo took the ball and in the 51 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Natalio Arnas. A collision led to Colchester United getting a freekick after 59 minutes play. Tod Monkman hit a great ball.
